Black Swords

Seraing, March 4th to 6th, 2009
(edited December 31st, 2009 and Jully 10th and 11th 2010).

Preamble

This statement is made by myself, without any talk about that with neither B.Iron, because things between us have to be solved before talking about that, nor ΚΦ, because he's not concerned by all this.

Statement about Black Swords and Optimistic decay

The reason why we didn't restarted rehearsing

There is a problem that only concern B.Iron, myself and a few relatives.

The concequence of this problem

We are, for now, unable to work together neither for Black Swords nor for Optimistic decay. Of course, we're able to write some stuffs each one on our own sides, but that's all and that's far to be enough. A band is a group of persons working together, it's synoetic; a project with few members is not a solo project.

How long will it last?

I realy don't know. In my own point of view, Black Swords and Optimistic decay are my most important artistic projects, so, I realy hope that we'll come back one day, but, to be honest, I don't even know if it will ever be the case.

Besides

Most of Doom Metal bands deals with christian subjects. Anyway it is in a christian or satanic point of view, christianism is an important lyrical influance for those bands. Black Swords (and so Optimistic decay) never had christian subjects, and, the more I evolve, the more I've got ideas against helleno-judeo-christianism (and so theism). So, I chosed not to use the term doom anymore to define the style of one of my bands or project, or even as a word in my lyrics (for now, quite a few songs have to be modified because of that) because it's too tie to the doomsday (a typicaly christian concept).

I personaly concider our music as some Pathetic Metal (pathetic in its first sens: something that touches deeply, that gives a great emotion caused by suffering). I talked about that to the band in early 2007 and our dear late-K.Dich didn't realy gave his opinion about it (if I remember well, he told me something between why not and I don't know, I'll think about it later). Afterwards, neither B.Iron nor ΚΦ did agree (because most people will think about the modern sens of pathetic). So, while we don't have a consensus about that, I'll use a term I often see, that doesn't have enough sens, but that is clear: Down Tempo Metal.

Gloom.
